Hello, I am trying to identify a type/brand for these pliers so I can get a new pair, can't seem to find them via image search and no one in my shop seems to know.

I loved these things and they have saved my knuckles many times.

There don't seem to be any brand identifiers or markings and it's pot metal/can't fix by weilding

Thank you for your help

Don't know, but they don't strike me as being a general mechanic tool. Likely made for a specific purpose/job, but as a bonus are handy for other things. Pot metal would indicate they were not meant to be used very hard or often either. Something plumbing related maybe? I'd think the knuckle guard would have a specific purpose, more than general safety.

If it was a general mechanics tool, it's possible the pot metal build was just to make it cheaper so they could sell more of them at the auto part store, but the shape is so different that I'd think they would have put a quirky name on it, if not a patent.

That was my first thought, especially given the pot metal (injection molding alloy). Doesn't explain the finger guard, if that is what it is.

NOT AN. Circular connector pliers for aviation have soft jaws, Historically leather, contemporary, delrin or similar/
Utica made forged-steel Cannon Plug / AN Connector pliers with straight-knurl jaws. The metal jaws actually gripped the AN Connector retainer collars instead of slipping-and-stripping like the plastic-lined jaws did.

And yes, the knurled metal jaws COULD slip and scar the connector collars. But i've never seen them damage collars beyond re-use.

I loved these things

Looks like it's time for laser from plate and a couple hours on the bench grinder. Search here for online places that will do the laser cutting, it's not too expensive, considering. Maybe powder paint after, or brush finish then nickel plate, looks a lot like stainless.

Yup, I'm that stubborn :)

No, wait. If'n it was me, this would be an excuse to hunt up a gorton pantograph .... I swear, for reman of broken antique stuff ? There's still a place for a good tracer. I bet a garage guy could have a decent little business making replacements of broken old stuff with a nice Gorton 2-30 tracemaster.

Have you tried Google image search? It succeeds sometimes.

So, danskelata, how about telling us what you use those pliers for.

There's a good chance some us will have an "I never thought of that!" reaction.
It's really good for taking off spring clamps, holding and twisting stuck hoses back and forth (that's where those knuckle protectors really come in handy.) And just random things other than that
