Here's a super rare lathe in N.J. that needs a new home and some craftmanship work to finish the restoration.
This is a 1932 8-inch Junior, Catalog No. 1308-TB, that was built in 1931 and sold in late 1932. This is a very early 8-Junior with a 2-foot bed. It has 6-1/2 inches between centers. Besides the "T" bed, it sits on an original underdrive Wooden Cabinet. It also has an original Carl Furnas "S1" three phase 7-pole red drum switch on the original stanchion. These first S1 switches were made in the basement of his house. South Bend was his first customer in 1932.
I'm posting this for a friend and would like to help get this rare lathe into the hands of a South Bend Collector, If I didn't already have 8, I would take it in a heartbeat. I just can't swing it right now.
PM me and I'll forward the email contact for you.
