I noticed the chuck and spindle have .009 tho of play along the axes of the spindle. I don't think it was this bad a year ago. I see there is a clamp on the gear side of the spindle and I can see the play right there. Should I put a shim between the washer and the clamp nut or do i do something with the chuck side of it?

Thank's for the link I was about to post I will be searching for the bearing post.

I adjusted the nut so that when pulling or pushing with moderate pressure on the chuck there is about .001 movement maximum in either direction. Without an indicator I can't see if there is any play at all and the spindle is still free spinning shows no binding when turning by hand.

I cut a piece of O1, very much nicer then with the .009 play.
