Boy’s I need your help. I have to cut a ¼” slot in a 1” X 1/8” wall chrome-moly tube. The cut passes through a 1” long fine thread. Unfortunately, I know nothing about cutting blades. I mean they got inline ones and off set ones. The little guy on my shoulder tells me I would want a large diameter with as many teeth as possible, slow rpm and slow feed. The last time we made these we milled them, and it took forever. Thanks in advance for your input. Bob L

You will need a core to slide in tube so you can get enough clamping pressure. Bridgeport low end is 60 rpm or so you would need a small slitter to stay in sfm parameters for your cut.
A HSS cutter maybe 50-60 SFM max on chrome moly with coolant , NOT RPM

Maybe if you tried a carbide end mill it would go faster. Or a carbide tip Woodruff cutter. A temporary plug inside the tube would help avoid nasty burrs on the inside of the tube.
