While at IMTS this year, I came across the Smart CNC Machine booth. Prices seem too reasonable and rumors say some of their machines are built on Japanese frames (I recall seeing an HMC that said it was made by Niigata or something rather). I see they're also new so it's hard to get a feel on reliability and serviceability. One end of people I spoke with that "knows a guy" with some machines say they're good. Others say they're junk. What say ye? They're bare-bone so you don't get the flare but I guess that's what sets the price-point.

Salesman told us they're cheap because the owner also owns the exporting or something like that so he's able take out the middle man to keep prices down. Take that for what it's worth but it's logical.
They're made in Korea and are supposedly made with the same parts as Samsung I believe.
We're currently looking at one of their lathes. Price seems decent but we have little to compare it to so we're shopping around.
