Soft Face Welding

I had made a fixture to hold some aluminum tubing to be able to do the last ops on each and turn 180 degrees. Before the fixture I was just using a spin 5c index then swapping the part around. Wasn't a huge time sink but with the quantity a fixture that would allow both ends done at once added up.

Made the fixture out of mild steel for some rigidity and all was good until I noticed where the clamp was small scratches start appearing on the part. The clamp is like a split ring clamp.

Decided to bore out the clamp(.050oversized) then used some silicone bronze rod and a tig welder to soft face the clamping surfaces and rebore it out.

I've done hard face welding before but never soft face. I'm sure it's done some where but was new to me and figured I'd let people know of the option.

The tubing is very cosmetic with no coating or treating after hence the need for no scratches.
