I have read several times where people say their local
place is upgrading speedio firmware for free.

Both of mine are 2015 models (sx1000)

My local place in Cleveland Ohio also told me they would
do it for free over 1 year ago.

They said they would stop by and do it for free next time they were in the area.

So 1 year passed, I sent them an email to "remind them".

Now they respond back and tell me it will cost me $1500 ????

I literally have the email where they told me they would do it at no charge next time someone is close.

So I was "patient" and waited 15 months and they changed their minds?

I feel betrayed after spending 200k with this company. Am I wrong to feel that way?

Not at all.
It's a software upgrade that was free I believe.
Even if it's straight labor, there's no way it takes that long to warrant $1500.
$300 worth of labor, maybe.

I think it is very simple to do, as in you can do it yourself. Call Yamazen to get the latest firmware and instructions on how to install it.

Yes I heard it is easy to do yourself, I asked if they would
mail me the usb stick, I was told no.

I would not be so upset except 1 year ago I have an email where they said
they would do it for no charge if I am patient and wait until someone is in my area.

I understood that, have been patient for 15 months now, now when I send them a
friendly remember they slam the $1500 charge on me.

I would be more pissed that they want $1500 for 2 minutes of work to install free firmware. It would also make me wonder about anything else they would charge me for.

I have the files and documents for V11 Yamazen application engineer just sent them. (1.17.2020) My 2015 is on I believe v6 Just haven't had the need or downtime...
