Has anyone ever come across a Starrett bandsaw - either on paper or in the flesh? I'm not talking about the blades, but about an actual bandsaw machine. Many years ago, my late father-in-law told me that they had at one time made one. Can't recall if it was a vertical or a horizontal. I've never come across a reference to one.

I ran across a Starrett power hacksaw a few years ago. It looked like a nice machine but vibrated a lot. I might bring home a used Starrett kleenex (apologies to the trademark pedants) just because it says Starrett, but I didn't feel the need to own that saw for free.

Well...I've been using my Starrett power hacksaw for at least 20 years and it survived 10 years outdoors before I cleaned it up. I haven't noticed any vibration but over a few months it will "walk" a bit and I have to push it back into place.

This is the best I can do at the moment. I'm in the midst of setting up a replacement computer, moving files from the backup disc etc...

I paid $75 for this on someone's front lawn in Central Falls, RI about 35 years ago. Since then it has been in three or four places, including my back yard for about 10 years. It was just about rusted solid when I started on it again but every single screw & bolt came out without any problem. I took it apart, cleaned it up, painted it and have used it almost daily for the last 12 or 14 years.
