Taking apart a 1948 SB-9 Headstock. Looking for words of wisdom...

I have a 1848 SB-9C with a horizontal drive flat-belt setup. Everything appears to function properly and so far I've not found any significant wear.

I have taken the lathe apart for the purpose of cleaning, inspection, and felt replacements. I've purchased a felt/manual kit as has been recommended here on PM many times before.

I would prefer to completely disassemble the headstock for obvious reasons, but I have no experience with the SB-9. I don't want to do something stupid and regret it later.

I will follow the instructions in the manual, but for those of you that have
done this process before, do you have any suggestions, or do's and don'ts, or other words of wisdom?
