Tool offset in mill/turn machine

Hello,

I have question in mill/turn machine when the milling spindle is existing.. how can we take the tool offset (tool length)

1- Turning mode:

are we going to measure in B0 or B90? or it depends on the operation if the operation requires B90 will measure on B90

What if we measure on B90 and we run in different angle... can the machine compute the value?

2- Milling mode
Same question in B-axis orientation?

but are we going to measure tool diameter as multitasking turret machine? or it would be like milling just input the dia. value in the offset and select the coordinate system while programming?

Thank you ..

Hello,

I have question in mill/turn machine when the milling spindle is existing.. how can we take the tool offset (tool length)

Your A length is always going to be your distance from spindle to tool tip whether at B0 or 90. Likewise the B length is the distance of the tool tip from centerline. Only time this changes is when using 45 degree turning tools in which the control will calculate the A and B distance when touching off from the chuck

2- Milling mode
Same question in B-axis orientation?

Same as the first the tool length is always the tool tip distance from the spindle face, the control will keep track of it when swinging around in B.

but are we going to measure tool diameter as multitasking turret machine? or it would be like milling just input the dia. value in the offset and select the coordinate system while programming?

You input it just like on a mill putting in the full tool diameter.

Thank you ..
