I was thinking other newbe types like me might be interested in a comparison of 'old school' tools and some of the 'new' stuff.
The OEM tool is on the right, with the new ER32 on the left. I bought the new collets and chuck because the clamping nut on the old chuck is pretty worn and sloppy. It also utilizes a 'subchuck'? to hold the smaller tools which I use the most, but not always. It is sort of a pain to switch back and forth. The runout on the new tools (chuck bore alone and with collet holding an end mill) is within the advertised specs (+-0.0003) as far as I can measure. So anyway, hopefully the pictures will show up in the correct orientation.
