Treasures from an Old Tool Chest

The files were made to be used with a handle. Handle had two prongs on the side, which fit into the depressions and were expanded lengthwise by a screw.

Here is what the handle looked like. Top of ad.
I have one and the set of files.

Mauser had three divisions..guns,tools ,and calculators......Ive seen lots of the cheap pressed steel Mauser verniers......they are listed in Stoeger catalogues in the 20s and 30s.....incidentally ,the name was changed in 1924 from Waffenfabrik Mauser to Mauserwerke Oberndorf.......they never stopped making guns,just got sneaky about it.

Thanks for that picture of the file handle. Now I wonder what the odds are of me tripping over a handle in the wild. LOL At least maybe I can ID it now.

years ago I worked with an older gentleman named John S Titlow. He taught me a lot and when he retired, I bought his tool boxes. I value the knowledge and still use some of his JST marked tools and fixtures. I can still hear the gruff old Marine sometimes. Semper Fi John, RIP
