I was emailing him (UK guy) and he said its the surface between the bottom of the column to the top of the base where he needs sit scraped. Here is what he said: From the pictures it looks like a bench type mill. Not to big at all.
"The machine in question is as per attachments.
From the factory the casting is fine, and well within the 0.015/250mm deviations that we spec. With the motor, drawbar and spindle the column base needs correcting to bring the deviations in XZ and YZ planes into spec. More like 0.08/250mm
I have made hard washers to spread the bolting load but just waiting to get the base in to the ground to be able to level it precisely.
So basically the pad that the column sits on and is bolted to needs tweaking. I would imagine it's a day's work for someone with good skill.
The scrape job in China is a bit pants."
