There was nothing on that paper when they put the first mark on it, right ?

I suspect they designed a machine for the masses, for 95% of users it's 'good enough'

Not all machines can be Okuma's not all shops can afford Okumas, Most customers don't care if their parts are made on an Okuma or Haas, but they do care about price.

as much as i do 'complain', this is important to know. i'm never satisfied with 'good enough' or 'it works'. especially after i've started working with actually good machines, so my opinion is skewed in a way. they 'work', you'll have to implement quite a few workarounds that you wouldnt need to deal with on higher end machines, but if thats not an issue for someone, more than likely haas machines will be ok.

The ratio of satisfied Haas users to the users who come here to complain about their Haas's is maybe 100:1, 500:1, or maybe 1000:1, who knows. But Haas somehow seems to continue to sell machines.

So either Haas buyers are saps because they don't listen to the complaints here, or Haas makes OK decent machines.

It must be frustrating to some that people still buy Haas's despite their best efforts to spread the word that Haas's should be avoided.
All I can say is that I have a VF4SS and it has never missed a beat and I have been happy with it. I was skeptical about the UMC's but the more research I did in the real world the happier I was to buy one so I did.

That's funny I found at least one shop who had an Okuma 5 Axis and made them take it back as they were not happy. I can afford Okuma's, in fact I have one and can happily say it has its own level of secrets and nothing is perfect.

I look forward to meeting these immaculate machine shop owners who work only in microns and keep their shop, tools and employees happy and well fed and then see them make stuff that actually interests me :) .

At this stage I am very confident to say limit will be my ability long before I exceed my machines capabilities unless of course I expect them to compensate for my lack of ability by covering for me :)

How are Doosan 5 axis compare to Haas UMC? I mean a price.
How do they compare in quality, reliability etc?
I had experience with both brands in vertical 3 axis and like Doosan more.

i dont own any YET, but i've had the pleasure of working with GF mikron, Hermle and Grob among numerous other brands, so i've been able to experience the best of the best. i was super close to buying my own Mikron, but banks told me to pound sand with 800 credit score and plenty income. so now i'm just saving up to buy one out of pocket, few more years and i'll be there.

price wise doosan is 10-20% more depending on how well your sales guy likes you. quality/capability wise they're in their own world compared to haas.

10% is still comparable, but 20% will make a room for real japanese brand.

I had an experience with 5 axis DMG, Mazak and Matsuura. Like DMG with HH the most all over other brands even it was least reliable and just hate Mazaks. But these brands is just another league compare to Haas and all taiwanese machines and I believe Doosan.
