Uploading Work Zero data (G54,G55 etc) from PC onto my Brother TC-S2B

Hi All,

For various reasons, I need to upload Work Zero data (G54,G55 co-ordinates etc) from my PC onto my Brother TC-S2B (A00 Control)… rather than manually enter it/set it on the machine…… trouble is I’m having problems uploading this data (I have no problems uploading ordinary programs and do it daily…via RS-232).

I’m able to backup/download this same Work Zero data from the control onto my PC..(and did this so I can see what I think is the format required to upload). An example looks like the code below which has come straight from the control.

If I try and upload this same file to the control (but additionally removing the ‘S’ after the %... as according to the manual that means Slave), I get the following error:

7546 LOAD DATA NAME ERROR’ and as it suggests, the manual says ‘The data name of the received header is not correct’. I’ve since tried many other things like renaming it to POSNM2 for example and trying to load it into Metric 2….. but no luck.

Hopefully it’s me just being stupid and there’s a simple solution here….. so if anyone knows what I’m doing wrong and can help, then that would be really appreciated.

Many thanks….. Chris.

(The POSNM1 below is the name of the dataset stored in the Metric 1 directory in the memory on the control).

Here’s the code that came from the control:

BUMP.... hoping someone can help.... maybe @BROTHERFRANK ... or anyone else?

thanks :)

Yes that is the file for work offset data. You running Metric? That's the file for metric. To load back in will be the same as how you load programs except first remove all the characters after the top percent sign. Leave the % but remove the S POSNM1. When you go to load in Edit Mode, press external IO, choose data bank, highlight work (data?), (cursor over to Metric? Sorry don't remember)press 1 and Edit Start. By pressing 1, you are loading the work offsets to Data Bank 1. That is what the 1 represents in POSNM1. There are 5 Data Banks for Inch and 5 Data Banks for Metric. You may need to leave the POSNM1 but remove the S and space after the %. It's been a long time since I've done this and rarely in Metric

Hi @BROTHERFRANK .... Many thanks for your help here.... really appreciated (and yes I'm Metric as in the UK). Sadly though what you've said above is pretty much what I've been trying (only difference is that when choosing which databank to upload to (1 to 5) there's no option to select either metric or imperial).... I assume it just shows metric as this is what I've got the machine set to in the User Parameters somewhere. I've tried uploading all sorts of variations (just the '%' header... then also the POSNM1 with or without spaces etc etc.... all giving the same error).... and also tried uploading to the other databanks, using POSNM2/3/4/5 etc.

Pic below of the screens I go through.

I like the sound of G10!! ( thanks GENERALDISARRAY :) ) I'll give that a go instead.

Put the G10 lines at the top of your program(s). If you need to edit your work offsets, you must do it in the program on the G10 line(s)!
