Work holding/Fixture design resources?

I think I know what a basic fixture needs to accomplish (strength, location, repeatability) but am looking for resources on how make better fixtures. I'm looking for things like how to design for better repeatability, how to keep chips out of unwanted areas, ease of access, and hopefully other items I didn't know I needed to consider.

Are there any old school texts that discuss this in detail? Hardback would be good, I prefer to read print vs digital media.

We have a older dowling fixture that has 2 posts and a handle on the side to raise and lower the top plate. It ha s W with a circle around the W. I am looking to get a couple more. The plant manager who came up with them is no longer around. So I am not sure where they came from. Any help out there?

Yes it was but I would like to find some more. It has a W stamped on it and some numbers and letters, but they get me no where.

Looks like a pump jig for drill press use. Became obsolete with advent of the automatics.
