    Fixing a $100 problem with a $40,000 solution

Forklifts used in warehouses or big manufacturing settings is brutal, and they usually rack up hours fast, often running 24/7.

    Convert diesel forklift to propane

I agree tier 4 diesel engines are probably fine indoors, but I still wouldn’t choose one over a propane. All that emissions stuff is problematic.

    Convert diesel forklift to propane

Most factories are still progressing toward all electric forklifts, although all I’ve seen still use lead-acid batteries. The bad part with a small shop using an electric forklift is the cost involved when the battery plays out. Often you are better off to just buy another forklift than to spend...

    Convert diesel forklift to propane

I understand why, and you would to if you spent any time in an enclosed shop with a diesel engine running. I don’t think converting a diesel engine to propane would be cost effective though, would be easier and cheaper just to sell the diesel and buy a propane lift.

Source for heavy wheels and tires?

These type tires will hold quite a bit of weight for their size. https://www.prioritytire.com/deestone-d268-st-20-5x8-00-10-95j-e-10-ply-trailer-tire?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw-pyqBhDmARIsAKd9XIPWoCQ5C6fEY69gQcMZRt6RxnDfajx-mo24C-5z7u8UAiRqvixjBNEaAhM4EALw_wcB

Moving 30K lb machine with forklift on rock driveway.

This is not correct, telehandlers are rated with the boom all the way retracted, just look at any telehandler load chart. While it is true you can exceed the load chart and sometimes get away with it, you are out of chart. Also Telehandlers are more like cranes than a forklift where you don’t...

Moving 30K lb machine with forklift on rock driveway.

There are a whole lot of variables there. I have carried machines of that weight on a gravel drive with a standard forklift, but it all depends on how solid the gravel surface is and other site conditions. If it's soft loose gravel you're going to have problems, it also makes a big difference on...

    Genie Z34/22DC platform control problems.

I’ve been there, these man lifts can be an electrical nightmare and they can be wired in some strange ways. I say your problem is electrical, since it works fine with the ground controls. For some reason you aren’t getting the proper electrical signal from the platform. Probably just have to...

Can a lathe be lifted by the spindle and still have any precision left ?

I’ve picked lathes by the spindle before, sometimes on some lathes it’s the only rigging point without damaging other stuff. I do take issue with the way this lathe is rigged though. The head end of the lathe is being smashed into the forklift mast by the angle of the straps.

Chaining through a D ring? Basket or Choke?

I had a talk with a rigging supplier about this a couple years ago. The bottom is a chain hooked into a loop doesn’t double the capacity, it is over the straight pull but I don’t recall how much. Now if you do have a length of chain attached to a lifting ring, and basket a item with enough d:d...

Easiest way to move a forklift 40 miles?

Another thing to consider is that most smaller trailers aren’t really made to handle the concentrated load of forklift tires, most will have pine flooring with crossmember spacing as wide as 24”. All of our trailers designed to haul forklifts have 8” crossmember spacing and either 2” oak or...

    Bleak future for Yellow Freight?

I’d want to get it off that dock as fast as I could. Who knows how long the warehouse workers will still be there.

    Bleak future for Yellow Freight?

As a taxpayer, I hope the government don’t bail out Yellow.

    Bleak future for Yellow Freight?

My experience with unions hasn’t been all that well. In my trade I made more money working non-union. A union job would pay me union scale, which was more or less based on only how long I had been there. I went to work at a non-union job making more money because the actually pay you for your...
