I raised my knee near the top and it works as it should in the top three inches. Once the table top get ti avout four inces below the spindle it works real hard and I have to use both hands in order to turn the wheel. Has anybody used viper drill bits

Try Max at Winter's Drill Bit City in MN. You can google the number and he answers the phone. He sells only USA made bits and the prices are good, not Chinese cheap, but a fair price for what you get. I would recommend the drilling oil he sell too. I have no association with him, other than I...

OT What is the best microwave oven?

I used to do almost everything in the microwave and had a variety of different models. Lately, I have purchased a new high quality set of fry pans and cookware and have found that I like cooking the old way better and it really does not take that much more time, and things seem to taste better...

Thoughts on Polishing Chip Tray versus Painting it

I would prefer the polished look, but if it has dents and dings in it then all of them will show if you polish it out. MW

OT- Boiled egg cooking and peeling

Older eggs peel easier. I bring to a boil, then turn the heat down and cover for 10-12 minutes. Once done, they get cold running water and an ice bath. Once cool, roll them on the counter to crack and use a spoon to help peel. This has worked well for me.

OT: Non stick coating for frying pan

We purchased Analon Hard Anodized a while back and they are the best pans I have ever owned. I have used almost everything out there and I like to cook. The Analon pans cook evenly and wash up very easily. They say you can use metal utinsels, but I don't. They are a little heavier and of nice...

OT - the tool you have owned the longest

I was trout fishing with my grandfather in the mid seventies, when I lost my pliers on one of the streams we were walking. That night I went to the hardware store down the street from the cabin we were staying in. Even in my early teens I had an eye for good tools and I passed the cheap pliers...

OT - Can soap scum be removed using workshop solvents?

I agree with Oldbikerdude37. Use vinegar. It will soften lime scale and should work on the soap scum too. My wife mixes lemon juice and a few drops of dawn dish washing soap in too with the mixture and it will clean almost anything.

Question about 3-in-1 shear, break, roll machine

I have one of the 3-1 machines and agree with <jbc>. I have not tried to sheer fiberglass, but the quality of these 3-1 is very utilitarian and quality is on the low side. On the other hand for what I do and have used it for, it does fine and takes up a small footprint in my shop. You get...

    Wal-Mart- Who are they kidding?

Walmart is motivated by one thing... MONEY and they are marketing geniuses when it comes to getting lemmings to go over the cliff. If it means marketing "Made in the USA" will generate them more money, they will be the first ones in line. Personally I research anything I buy to see if I can...
