Hardinge HLV-H, Trying to get some info on this machine.

This group site has a lot of files and resources. There should be one to age your machine by serial number. https://groups.io/g/hardinge-lathe Judging by the pictures and paint in the pan, you got a late model, low use machine in good condition.

    Hardinge C10 holder Question

Maybe the center was hogged out with a drill then finished with a broach.

    Upgrade my spindle motor

Over speeding a vfd has limits. Torque starts dropping after 60hz. There probably won't be much at 300hz. Better check specs.

    DRO system for Bridgeport

If the scales are adaptable, the readout could be replaced with something more current if that is important to you. I use a Touch DRO which I have been surprisingly satisfied with. At first I thought it was hobby shop gimmicky but it is a solid system. Touch DRO is a black box that you plug...

What did you pay? What did they repair?

Trying to loosen the belt on my BP CNC.

Sorry, I can't answer your question directly but can advise the belt will not stretch. It might wear but won't stretch. Probably not even a cheap chinese knock off with a polyester carcass. Now my rant, why do cnc machine manufacturers insist on using motor mounted encoders instead of dro...

HLV-H Lead Screw Bearing Retainer Removal (Stuck?)

Maybe apply universal rebuilders guide, rule 23, if it ain't broke, don't fix it, sub-section C, if it doesn't come out easy, leave it alone. The Navy mariners edition says salute it. If it it doesn't salute back, paint it.

    Deckel FP1 Spiral Head

Mayhem, I looked at one a guy in town has. He has not run it but believes it is complete. What I saw was the attachment, a box of 15 or 20 change gears with some other hardware and an extended crank handle on the left hand x axis screw.

    Deckel FP1 Spiral Head

Ross, It is for a specific project. I have the machine. I just lack the attachment and would jump on a deal. Collectors irritate me. They tie up resources and drive up prices.

Are there any Deckel FP1 spiral milling attachments available to buy or rent?

    Hardinge collet closer help

I have a manual so taking a swag at it. The knurled nob is to hand tighten the tube that threads on to the back of a collet. The aluminum piece is a cylinder with a piston that is attached to the same tube. The inboard air line moves the piston to the left to close the collet and the outboard...

    Hardinge HLV-H Current Market Values?

Last year I paid $8k for a 1985ish with full set of c5 collets including squares and hex, 3, 4 and 6 jaw Buck chucks, face plate, 2 albright keyless drill chucks, 3 centers, 3 hardinge knurlers, L18 quick change tool post, 6 tool holders, dro and work light. Came with a 208 to 480v xformer. It...

    Miling machine gears noise.

I have a FP1. The same 2 gears between the vertical head attachment and base machine make noise. The bearings are not worn. The correct ATF oil is used. The noise, call it a rattle, varies depending on load. They are straight cut gears so bound to make some noise. But .45mm (.018") is...

How is the E/M different from the basic HLVH?

Yes, all that above plus the price premium. An E/M sits at the top of a very popular and pricey lathe name. Billtodd mentioned the digital alternative which was about $3500 the last time I looked. It is a step more convenient than the E/M and cuts a wider variety of pitches. Even tapers...
