I know its a broad topic, but my shop has been closed for 1.5 years. I have 2 customers that will continue to give me work, and I'm ready to start up production again. Was wondering about raising prices. Obviously, everything has gone up, WAY up. Just wanted to know how others were adjusting to...
Does anyone have a Bridgeport hand wheel for the quill (the original Bridgeport version) they'd like to sell?
I really like the look of the ones that Bridgeport used to sell as an accessory.
About to give mine a good clean up and all that. Wondering what everyone else uses to remove the nut holding the spindle in. Before I make one, just wondering if there is an easier method I'm not knowing?
Guys - I'm creating this thread because I'm still experiencing some frustration with this machine.
1. I only get batches of 10, 20, 30, 50, pieces. It will never be (more) that that, only those small batches.
-- Was it the right choice to get this machine?
2. Am I unrealistic to think...
Thanks to everyone who helped me with some info on coolant pumps. I wound up getting a Gusher-Compatible pump from AMT - same specs pretty much as the Gusher.
I decided to install the one-off switch the speed control box with a small toggle switch. After cleaning out the coolant tank, I...
I've tried setting up my first job on my DSM59.
Everything was going pretty good until I tried to turn some diameter off the piece. The amount is .200, so I decided to take it off in three ops of .030 per cut.
I was getting some bad results and then it dawned on me that the cutter is NOT on...
Guys - I'm reassembling my (wide range) gearbox and having an issue with the Christmas Tree shaft binding, once it locates on the inner bearing. I can turn it by hand, but it's too tight.
I've checked the shaft on V-blocks and it's perfectly straight. The shaft does spin freely when the bearing...
I was making my first chips in the DV/DSM-59 last night.
I realized that the my dials were out of square and turning a taper. I used a 123-block clamped to the bed and then maged-down a Noga with indicator, to tram in the X-axis. Obviously, the compound protractor is "close" but for dead-on...
I've been reading the posts on the cut off blades and have a couple questions.
1. Do P blades only protrude to one side? Because in the pics, they all appear to be wider on the top part.
2. If so, will that cause a tilting situation while clamped in the holder?
3. My holder measures 11/16...
I have a DV59 and it doesn't have a coolant pump. I want to know which model I should start to hunt for and what would be needed (if anything, special) to install the coolant pump on this model Hardinge? You'll also notice in the second picture, at the bottom of the chip tray, there are no holes...
If you saw my previous post on being scammed from some wishy-washy, shady jackass, this will be poetic justice!
After my upset, I was scanning every possible avenue to find another Heavy 10. I found one on eBay and called the seller directly at his company. *(he used the same name for his eBay...
So the story goes like this:
I messaged an eBay seller (of NOS S.B. parts) asking if he knew of anyone selling a heavy-10. He said he had a "mint" one in his garage. After a few scheduled times, cancellations and reschedules, I got to go to his place and look at it.
My GOD it was is fantastic...

Hi all -
I just bought a decent DV59.
I plan to buy a turret and cross slide for it, so it'll be a "DVSM"-59 (haha)
I have 3 questions for the hardinge experts:
1. Was taking apart the compound dials and got it all disassembled, EXCEPT for the compound. Everything is removed, except for...
Hardinge DSM Round Turret -vs- ESM HEX Turret?
I've seen a lot of comparison discussion on these two turrets with the common them of the HEX as "they're bad". I've not seen any reasons or details on this comparison.
Can anyone explain these differences and why the hex are considered bad...
