Hello Machine 1medic
The posts on the big Niles has greatly intrested me, But i did not wish to become involved in the open discussion, simply because in the postings has a lot more intellect than me, So therefore i am writing to you "person to person" and wish to retain it such please.
The thought of either balls or rollers, with the subsequent point loading sounds to me to be a total disaster, Many years ago, allong with a machine tool fitter we went to a seized large VBM due to operator start up without priming the oil feed first thing on a cold wimters morning
Upon eventually freeing off and lifting the table, we found galling had taken place, This we hand scraped, back to acceptable
My own thoughts are the metal to metal surfaces of these machines under heavy live loads, (as designed) is the correct system
I think you were 100%correct---- Oil Mac.
