in 1978 I began solo medical work which involved repair of facial trauma
I had to purchase a trauma appliance set called a halo kit--for use in complex facial skull trauma
components were titanium with stainless fasteners --injured individual had to tolerate this hardware for 6-8 weeks--
usually enough time for facial bones to unite with skull
so a few days ago I am scanning med literature for required hours license maintenance
I come across footage of pre-schooler swinging from his halo--no injury history--child has scoliosis and is
spending 8 weeks in childrens hospital in halo prior to major scoliosis surgery--halo use
does not eliminate need for spinal rod placement but reduces the extent and complexity
