Horizontal Tapping Head

Can a Procunier Tapping head be operated in a horizontal spindle?
Looking to set it up in a lathe spindle and move the (10 foot long) part in and out by hand.
I would build a box fixture around the part to keep it from torquing out of my hands.
Any down sides to this idea?

I have used several Tapmatic heads horizontaly.
Was fine.
Never used a Procunier, but I would suspect similar results.

either a 10" southbend or a midsize wood lathe on slowest speed.
1/4" - 20 in the ends of t-slot extrusion

Should be fine as long as you don't oil it too much.
