Hello, I want a Surface Grinder I just don't have anywhere to put it. So I'm looking for the smallest foot print I can get. All I'm planning on Grinding are Bearing Shims that are all cheap imports that I don't trust to be flat ! The Rockwell 24-105 looks like it might due but I'm open for any and all. A Mag Table is a bonus.

It would appear that the 6x12 Surface Grinders are much more plentiful than anything smaller. With in Driving range I have both a Harig and a Rockwell for sale. I realize that condition means everything but before I go see one does one stand out better than the other ? I'm probably leaning towards the Harig.

Be darn sure the grinder you choose can grind your part to the flatness specs you need. looking for better than .0002 in 3" you might set a good quality 123 block on the chuck, shimmed to flat and run a tenth indicator across.
Indicating from wheel head to the fresh ground chuck is not checking a grinder for flat grinding ability. I would I like to see <.0002 in 12 travel

I've seen 2 grinders that size. My students brought them to the class. The Brand is a Sanford I think. Bad deal about them both had terrible lubrication and were wore out. I was able to help them. We put turcite on them.
