I have a 5 ton Benchmaster and it has a 1hp 110v motor. Wondering what you guys think about me upgrading it to a 5hp 220v and what would be the new tonnage rating?
The machine is well built and I don't see the shaft flexing or any of the parts failing and am open to giving it a try. Just...
Tried to make it from scrap parts, and realized a few problems after my first test in trying to shear 1.5" angle.
Problem 1: The base is too flimsy. I made it from two separate pieces of flat bar tacked together, and both opposite ends buckled towards the center.
Solution: Weld everything...
Bought a metal roller from a local window manufacturer and it came with a standard on/off switch so the motor only spins in 1 direction.
Good news, the ac motor is bi-directional. Have an old drum switch and would love to marry the two for low voltage.
Spent the last hour online and came across...
Need to mass produce a part made of 3/16" thick x 6" wide x 24" long 304 stainless that requires two 90 degree bends.
I made a quick sketch to get a rough idea of a potential layout. Was thinking about using two hydraulic cylinders to bend the two ends of the part 90 degrees downward and a...
Haha I know, I know. I should use a servo or stepper motor because they are more precise. Thing is, I'm not converting my mill to cnc, well, for now at least. No one that I'm aware of makes a ball screw for a Jet JMD-15 so it looks like I will have to live with backlash for the time being...
Does anyone know of an affordable online turning service? Like Send-Cut-Send but for metal turning.
I just got a quote from Hubs.com and it was quite pricey. Wondering if anyone would be willing to share a good source.
Thanks,
Dave
Plan to insert this through 16ga. stainless steel sheet metal and would like to permanently fasten it by flanging the non-flanged end right up against the sheet metal. Searched for over an hour now and couldn't find any Youtube videos on how to make a flange on a plastic bushing. I know I...
Currently use 1/2" ID rubber grommets on 16 gauge stainless sheet metal.
A 12mm rod passes through and this tab/grommet serve as a hinge.
I can work with just about any OD and would like to use a more durable version.
Any ideas?
