Deckel Tool Cabinets

Shown above is an FP1 cabinet.
Ross' is an FP2.
All of these before they went to a more modular and compact design (in the 70ies I would guess).
These cabinets are all over the place in Germany (except when you want one), but I have never seen one as nice as Ross's. Their value is usually as high as are the shipping cost, so they just sit and take up space, ....a lot of space.
Below is one I just pressure washed and all the paint on the front came off (only on the front strangely). This one has the swivel doors in the front while Ross shows the fold up doors.
The steel quality is amazingly good. There is no real rust and it is not even developing surface rust so far. Odd...

Attached the Deckel Info Sheet on the FP1 Tool Cabinet dated Dec 1953.
The also attached picture from a 50's FP1 manual is showing a slightly different layout!
Anyway, they actually left 1 drawer unoccupied and at the workers discretion!

Paint on my cabinet is pretty good, with the exception that there is som corrosion at the very bottom on the front of the right side.
Must have set on a floor with occasional water.
Did a reorganization some time back and discovered to my surprise that I had the original keys 😳
Cheers Ross

As promised, size of both my cabinets are: 41"W x 24"D x 60"H. A few "features":
- I wanted to limit the depth of cabinets given the small room they are in, and therefore they are designed in a way where they can topple if the shelves are pulled out, and thus the strapping holding the cabinets to the wall. I could have screwed the cabinets into the wall, but wanted to keep them mobile, so I just use the strapping
- On the left cabinet, the top is indented to allow for the crane hoist to come in from the top, thus avoiding the need for shelving
- On the left cabinet, it is setup for adjustable shelves
- All the shelves that roll out are very heavy duty ball bearing, special order, can handle 500 lb per shelf fully extended the full 24", and have nice locking mechanism so they stay open and stay closed as desired
