intro and project lathe

Hello, very glad to have found this forum, im already learning things. Ill make it quick. I got a Seneca Falls Lathe late last year, it seems to be complete minus a table/legs. Just needing some clean up and some new belts. (and an experienced operator)

Im a lethe newbe for the most part so im looking forward to geting this thing going.. Typically my projects involve simply using my plasma cutter and welding large parts together with 1/8" tolerence more than enough.. But im tired of sending out parts to have minor resizing or enlarging or ordering bushings i could easily make (in theory)

So anyway. Heres a few pics... more as i progress...

Couple questions? Does anyone have a good source on general operation ? Possibly a place to order a handbook/guide?

Im curious as to the what all the levers are really soposed to do and where to get started.

I hope to have a tabled made up in the next month or so and go from there...

Try for a copy of "How To Run A Lathe". Either on Ebay or sources like
http://www.lindsaybks.com/ (where I do not see it currently listed)

This is a South Bend Lathe publication, but has a lot of generic info you will need.
