Hi, sorry if this is somewhere else but I cannot find it: Our shop had some non-repeatable errors in the Haimer, about .005" at worst. Touching a part would sometimes not move the dial. The Haimer itself is 2 years old, and had been sent out a year ago for repair.
I was unwilling to spend $325 every year to have the thing serviced, so I took off the gauge face and examined the sluggish travel. There was no visible residue. I added a dab of ballistol to each spring coil and to the plunger in the main body. It now has instant, fast travel and we haven't seen any errors yet.
My first post here, thank you all for the discussion as it has helped inform this repair. Hoping to help someone else in turn.
